Word for the Week...JAN 6---12 / 2006

"And I saw a a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heavens fled away; and there was found no place for them.(V.12) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened; and another book was opened which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works(v.13) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.(v.14) And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.(v15) And whosoever was not found in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

As we ponder over these scriptures, let us carefully consider what other motive, any of us could require for evangelism, than this! We Christians are so full of judgement ! (judgementalism), but there is only One Judge...as these verses make abundantly clear...Let us thank God for Jesus, realizing that, at Calvary, He took upon Himself the judgement that we deserved. As we come to Him in humility, repentance and faith, we can have our name recorded in The Lamb's book of life...                                                                                                                                                               But what about those who have never heard the Gospel ??? On a local level, our Churches are very good at obeying the 'ordinances' of Baptism, and The Lord's supper, for example. These things are fine in themselves. But what about His other Commands..'.to preach the gospel to every creature, going to all nations...' (Matt.28:20). How about supporting those who will go, through prayer and offerings ?! How about sending them out, with the Blessing of the Church, making a  public committment to stand with them?                                                                                                                                          Of course, there is always a cost involved in following The Lord wholeheartedly. But the reward is Infinitely greater than the sacrifice required !!! In this day of mediocrity, may The Lord give us the Grace to make a radical stand for Him...because He's worth it !

May The Lord Bless you.
